New law books reflect changes

HA NOI — The National Politics – Truth Publishing House yesterday published 21 new law books reflecting the passage of 11 new or amended laws by the 12th National Assembly during its fifth session last May and June.

The new or changed laws include those on criminal records; public debt management; State compensation; Vietnamese representative offices abroad; urban planning; housing; land; construction; cultural heritage; intellectual property rights; and cinema, as well as the criminal code.

The new books integrate both old and new provisions of the laws.

At a press conference introducing the new titles, the vice chairman of the National Assembly’s Legal Committee, Phan Trung Ly, applauded the publishing house for the timely publications.

"In the past, it often took a long time for new laws to come to light after their passage," Ly said.

According to Nguyen Duy Hung, director and editor-in-chief of the National Politics – Truth Publishing House, the books would not only target readers within Party and State agencies but also aim to reach a wider public.

They were part of an overall plan to publish laws more comprehensively and bring the law closer to citizens, he said. —
